Djimon Hounsou Strips to underwear for Calvin Klein
In the Janet Jackson's Love Will Never Do Video, a young and muscular Djimon Hounsou paraded and giggled in white underwear, for the world.
Since then, the African-born, award-winning actor, has displayed his muscular physique and acting ability in Amistad, Gladiator, and most recently, Blood Diamond.
WWD is reporting that Djimon Hounsou will return to his underwear roots for Calvin Klein's Fall 2007 Underwear advertising campaign
Djimon Hounsou will be featured in a global print and outdoor campaign supporting the launch of the brand’s latest product line, Calvin Klein Steel.
The Fall 2007 campaign, which will be shot in late March or early April, will appear internationally in more than 20 countries, with print and outdoor media timed to coincide with September 2007 magazine issues.
Tighty-whiteys
Were you watching the Oscar preshow Sunday when E! Entertainment red carpet host Ryan Seacrest asked best supporting actor nominee Djimon Hounsou what undies he was wearing? Hounsou will be featured in the launch of a new underwear line, Calvin Klein Steel.
After confirming that Hounsou was, indeed, wearing Calvin Klein under his tux, Seacrest proceeded to yank down his waistband and show the top of his own skivvies.
Men's undies accounted for $3.6 billion in sales during the fiscal year ended in October, up from $3.3 billion the year before, according to the NPD Group, a market research firm.
Unmentionables
What's he wearing under there?
Briefs, also known as tighty-whiteys, are the venerable standby that boys and men have worn for decades. They're most often white, made of cotton and tight-fitting above the thigh.
Boxers are loose-fitting shorts that come in a variety of fabrics and colors. The fly usually consists of overlapping fabric and sometimes has buttons.
Trunks are boxers cut very short.
Boxer briefs combine the close fit of briefs with the longer shorts of boxers. They're usually cotton.
Bikinis are close-fitting briefs with a low waist and no fly. Colors and fabrics vary wildly.
Thongs cover the essentials and not one square inch more. No color, print or fabric is off limits.
