Wednesday Woody

You have the pictures now get down to business.

THE BAGGIE & THE MATTRESS

Get a plastic sandwich baggie and put some Vaseline in it. Then put your penis in and squish all the Vaseline around so it covers your penis. Once that is done, kneel in front of a bed. Lift the up mattress and put your penis, with the baggie still on it, between the mattress and the box-spring. Start pumping as if you were having sex. When you're done, all you have to do is throw away the baggie.

"ORAL" SIMULATION

To simulate the feeling of lips sliding over the penis head: Lube up your erection and hold the shaft in one hand. Put your dominant hand's index and middle fingers together horizontally, palm toward your face, in front of the penis head. Push the head into the gap between the fingers. The fingers should be relaxed, not tense. Now pull back and do this over and over the top third of the penis. Feel how the fingers conform to the penis's contour as they slide over the head and back. As you do this, position your other hand behind the "lips," and grip and squeeze the head as you push the penis in.

THE KLEENEX "CONDOM"

You can make a very effective "condom" of sorts for masturbation (not for intercourse!) using Kleenex tissues (preferably the lotioned kind). Start with 5 tissues (you can adjust the number depending on your penis size), fold 3 of the tissues in half along the crease that's usually there, and then wrap them around the base of your penis. Drape the other two tissues over the top opening so you can hold onto the edges with your hand. Then move up and down, and you've got yourself an easy, pleasurable ejaculation cleanup that can be flushed away with ease. You may want to make sure the whole thing is totally soaked through before flushing; otherwise it may plug up the toilet.

BANANA MAN

This is an easy one. Simply peel a banana (you can eat it later), slip the peel over your penis, and masturbate with it. The banana slime is a great lubricant. You can warm up the peel in the microwave for added sensations. Also, you might have better results if you peel the banana by making just one cut in the peel and removing the fruit through the single cut; you can then cut off the end of the banana peel and insert your penis through that end.

LORD OF THE RING

If you like "slow torture"-type techniques, you may love this one. It's pretty easy to do but takes some explaining. First, get your erection going with some lube. When you have a good erection, cup your scrotum with the hand you normally don't masturbate with. Now, make a "ring" (like an "okay" sign) with the thumb and index finger of your other (masturbation) hand. Using a "Backhand" grip, wrap your thumb and index finger around the base of your penis as close to your scrotum as possible. Now you're good to go. Start by massaging your balls a couple of times with your first hand. Stop. Next, using the ring you made with your masturbation hand, begin twisting back and forth at the base of your shaft. (Do not grip your penis with the rest of your hand. Just twist with the "ring.") Keep twisting while *slowly* pulling the finger ring up along your shaft toward your head, traveling about one-quarter of an inch every few twists. Depending on your penis size, you should reach your corona (rim of the head) in 10 or more twists. Once there, pause and squeeze the "ring" tightly around your corona, and then drive the ring down your shaft like a plunger. When you reach the base, pause, massage your scrotum with your other hand, and start the whole thing all over again. Ideally you'll have a good, long session before you finally explode.

Brangelina baby

I just love this picture

For months the world has been anticipating the arrival of the Brangelina baby. Tabloids and bloggers have been speculating that this baby is destined to be the Most Beautiful Child Ever. New York Magazine ruffled feathers when stating "Not since Jesus has a baby been so eagerly anticipated." What I'd like to speculate is.....what if the offspring of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt isn't as stunningly gorgeous as everyone assumes?

Jared Leto "I was joking"

Leto joked about being gay

Actor Jared Leto has laughed off reports that he is gay, insisting his comments to a reporter last week were meant as a joke.

The Requiem For A Dream star gave an online interview last Friday, where he claimed he was "gay as a goose".

The America On Line reporter seemed unsure if Leto was kidding or not and revised the question.

Leto them compared himself to rock musician Morrissey, another singer known for his vagueness about his sexuality.
he star was engaged to Cameron Diaz and has also been linked with Lindsay Lohan and Scarlett Johansson.

His publicist, Robin Baum, has dismissed the flurry of media reports that followed his interview insisting: "Jared was kidding."

Attractions and hotels are expecting a boost in crowds this week after Tuesday night's kickoff of Gay Days in Orlando.

Organizers estimate a record 140,000 gays and lesbians will be in town for the 16th annual gathering, which has grown a worldwide reputation with six days of events that largely center on Walt Disney World.

While Disney, Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando don't officially sponsor the events, they welcome the crowds.

"We've always seen more people in the parks during Gay Days, and we expect the same this year," Universal spokesman Tom Schroder said. "It's a great weekend for the city of Orlando and the community, in national attention and bringing business. There's no question we'll see more people in our theme parks and see more people staying in our hotels."

The gay and lesbian travel market is valued at about $50 billion nationwide, according to David Paisley, project manager at Community Marketing Inc., which publishes Gay Travel News.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper (says shut the hell up.)

Prime minister Stephen Harper to play lead in Brokeback Mountain 2 (Return of the knob)

Ottawa) The Prime Minister's Office has warned Conservative MPs not to comment on the marriage next month of two gay Royal Canadian Mounted Police constables.

The gag order went to all MPs but was aimed at ``the small minority who might say something stupid,'' said one caucus member.

It's just the latest in a concerted effort by Prime Minister Stephen Harper to control and limit his new government's public message track.

And it follows party strategists' successful suppression during the election campaign of outspoken social conservatives whose opinions might have harmed the party's climb to power.

``It shows that Stephen Harper does not trust his own caucus to avoid social Neanderthalism on these issues,'' said openly gay Liberal MP Scott Brison.

Tasty Tuesday

You Don't Have to be a Rock Star to Get Great Service

by Amber de Francis
with Todd Lejnieks

Whether you want to impress your friends or just get through dinner with above par service, there are things you can do as a guest to ensure your money won't be wasted and that you will have a great time. It just takes a few simple things to set yourself apart from the other guests in the restaurant, and be treated like a V.I.P....

Know what kind of restaurant you are going to
Is there a dress code? Open parking or valet? Is it "kid-friendly"? Is your favorite credit card accepted. A la carte, fixed menu, buffet? Your experience will be more enjoyable if you know what to expect.

Make a reservation
If the restaurant takes reservations, by all means make one. It is probably wrong but most restaurants treat their reservations better than those unfortunates who walk in and go on "the wait". Whenever possible, make your reservation with the manager and let them know of any special needs ahead of time (wheelchair access, dietary concerns, time constraints, etc...).

Drop a name
We live in a star struck culture and restaurant people, although they see their fair share of celebrities, are not immune. If you are working on the set of Julia Robert's new movie, let them know when you make the reservation. You don't have to be obnoxious about it, just say, casually, "I'm in town working on Julia Robert's movie and I heard you had a great restaurant and wanted to make a reservation..." Of course, you don't want to stretch the truth too much; you never know if Julia might be dining in the next booth over...

ompliments will get you everywhere
If you were dining at a friend's house, you would be treated great, right? So, the first thing you need to do is make the server your friend. When they approach your table listen to what they have to say and use the opportunity to set yourself apart and get them on your side. Ask questions. How long they have worked there? Do they like working there? Do they go to school? Showing interest in someone will always benefit you. Acknowledge if they are busy and compliment them on their hard work and how well they are handling everything. Now that you have fed their ego you have their attention.

Get the server involved
Ask the server to recommend items for you or even let them choose your meal for you. Doing this will not only get you some of the best items on the menu, but the server will then become much more concerned about your order. The more involved the server is in your dining experience the more responsible they will feel to make sure everything is perfect.

Don't act like Sally in "When Harry Met Sally"
Order from the menu. Don't make your own. The restaurant, if successful, is great at making their recipes. They may not be as good preparing something you come up with. A minor modification, now and then, is OK. But don't try and turn a cheese pizza into your grandma's eggplant calzone.

Undercooked meat is not the end of the world
If a problem does occur, first of all call them by their name (No "Hey..." and especially no "Hey, Miss!"). Explain the problem. Keep your cool and they will take care of whatever is wrong. At the same time tell them what you do like so you don't come off as just a complainer. When the server solves the problem let them know that you appreciate their initiative. Remember it is just dinner, don't make it seem like your whole world has just ended because your medium stake came out rare.

Try out your new jokes
Humor is a great way to show your server that you are there to have a good time and you are a guest that can joke around. Be careful not to come across too sarcastic, you want them to know you are just kidding around.

Don't pitch a tent
Restaurant workers have a name for people who hang out for hours on end, not ordering food or spending money: "Campers". And it is not meant to be endearing. It's fine to spend a few minutes after a meal having coffee and talking, but more than a half-hour is costing the restaurant, and your server money. If you ever find yourself in a restaurant that is running behind on seating its reservations on time, it is usually because of "campers".

Return like a Rock Star
Now if you are checking out a restaurant because you are planning to bring friends in and you want to impress them, then now is your time. Let your server know that you intend to return and tell them you want to request them. Trust me, they will take care of you this time and love it when you bring your friends back.

Leave a good tip
It doesn't matter how much fun you were to server or how nice you were, they are still there to work and make money. A server will always remember a good tipper and a bad tipper. If you are coming back soon it won't hurt to tip a little extra. When they see you walk in the next time you will be treated like a king. Even if that server does not serve you, they will remember you and pass on the information to their friend who is. Your friends will be impressed and you will have a great time.

Mormons urged to whine like little girls

SALT LAKE CITY (26 May 2006) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has sent a letter to its congregational leaders throughout the United States, urging members to "express themselves" on a forthcoming vote in the United States Senate relating to the definition of marriage
Full Text of First Presidency Letter

Letter from First Presidency of the Church to Church Leaders in the United States

We are informed that the United States Senate will on June 6, 2006, vote on an amendment to the Federal constitution designed to protect the traditional institution of marriage.

We, as the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, have repeatedly set forth our position that the marriage of a man and a woman is the only acceptable marriage relationship.

In 1995 we issued a Proclamation to the World on this matter, and have repeatedly reaffirmed that position.

In that proclamation we said: "We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society."

We urge our members to express themselves on this urgent matter to their elected representatives in the Senate.
Same-Gender Marriage

Question:
What is the position of the Church on same-gender marriage?

Answer:
The doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints affirms marriage between a man and a woman, and opposes same-gender unions and any other sexual relations outside of marriage. Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God to fulfill the eternal destiny of His children.

“The union of husband and wife assures perpetuation of the race and provides a divinely-ordained setting for the nurturing and teaching of children. This sacred family setting, with father and mother and children firmly committed to each other and to righteous living, offers the best hope for avoiding many of the ills that afflict society.” (News release based on a letter dated 1 February 1994 to priesthood leaders from the First Presidency.)

First Russian gay rights parade ends in violence

Russia's first-ever gay rights march descended into chaos and violence Saturday as Russian police, neo-fascists and Orthodox Christians clashed with demonstrators in Moscow.

The activists planned to lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The memorial is a symbol of the Second World War struggle against fascism, and one of Russia's most sacred places.

Police closed the gates to the park, however, barring the marchers from their destination. Then a group of about 100 people, including women singing hymns and shaven-head Russian nationalists, tried to head-off the group and charge into the parade.

They chanted "Moscow is not Sodom," and kicked and punched the demonstrators, according to The Associated Press.

Police arrived soon after, said CTV's Ellen Pinchuk, reporting from Moscow.

"Special forces showed up and started kicking people out of the square where this whole situation was unfolding," Pinchuk told CTV Newsnet.

She said there did not appear to be any serious injuries resulting from the clash, though she said a number of "random beatings," took place.

"It did appear they were more interested in arresting members of the gay and lesbian community than those who had come there to beat them up, so that was closely watched by international observers here from human rights groups, and members of the European Parliament."

Police later separated the two sides, forming a human barricade between the activists and a group of skinheads who tried to rush towards the activists.

The skinheads, wearing masks over their faces, threw flares as they attempted to rush the group, but were stopped and dragged away by riot police.

Demonstrators called the clash a step forward for the gay rights movement.

"This is a great victory, an absolute victory -- look at what's happening," said the leader of the march, 26-year-old Nikolai Alexeyev as he was dragged away from the gates by police.

Interfax news agency reported police had detained around 100 people after the clashes.

The march had been banned by city authorities, and had been condemned by religious leaders from all major faiths.

"Mayor Yuri Luzhkov has said right from the beginning there will be no gay pride parade in Moscow," Pinchuk said.

She said the clash, though described as a victory by some, was also terrifying.

"We spoke with a Canadian who was taking part in the organization of the parade. He said that in all his experience in Canada he was never afraid to show his sexual preference, but here he was really terrified," Pinchuk said.

Other gay activists had disapproved of the demonstration, claiming it was a risky move given Russia's widespread intolerance of homosexuality.

The parade was meant to mark the culmination of several days of festivities planned as part of Russia's first Gay Pride festival.

Gay activists from across Europe had been invited to the march. According to reports, about 40 activists took part.

Homosexuality was illegal in Russia until 1993, and public displays of affection between same-sex couples are almost unheard of.

Gay Art Robert Mapplethorpe

Robert Mapplethorpe

Robert Mapplethorpe (1946- 1989)

Self-Portrait, 1988

Born November 4, 1946, in Floral Park, New York. He left home in 1962 and enrolled at the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, in 1963, where he studied painting and sculpture and received his B.F.A.

Mapplethorpe had his first substantial shows in 1977, both in New York: an exhibition of photographs of flowers at the Holly Solomon Gallery and one of male nudes and sadomasochistic imagery at the Kitchen.
Mapplethorpes diverse workhomoerotic images, floral still lifes, pictures of children, commissioned portraits, mixed-media sculpture is united by the constancy of his approach and technique. The surfaces of his prints offer a seemingly endless gradation of blacks and whites, shadow and light, and regardless of subject, his images are both elegant and provocative. In the mid-to-late 1980s, returning to the sculptural use of photography seen in his early assemblages, Mapplethorpe created sensual diptychs and triptychs of photographs printed on fabric and luxurious cloth panels. In 1988, four major exhibitions of his work were organized: by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; the Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; and the National Portrait Gallery, London. Mapplethorpe died due to complications from AIDS on March 9, 1989, in Boston.

Transsexuals win strip-search choice

TORONTO -- A group that supports transgender rights is applauding a "precedent-setting" decision by the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario that gives transsexuals who are strip-searched by police the right to choose between female or male officers or both to perform the act.

The ruling, which stems from a complaint by a man who was in the process of becoming a woman, is a "win-win" for both transsexuals and police, said Laurie Arron of Egale Canada, a group that advocates equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

The transsexual complainant was strip-searched by male Peel Region police officers in May and August of 1999 and March 2001. The complainant asked to have the search performed by female officers each time, but was repeatedly denied.

The ruling, issued May 16, also sets out directions for officers who have doubts that a detainee is transsexual, and ordered Peel police to produce a training video on transsexuality for its members.

"It upholds the human rights of trans-people, and the police training will help everyone to get along better," Arron said.

Officers also cannot refuse to strip-search transsexuals unless they believe they have significant rights of their own to protect.

'FULL AND EQUAL'

The tribunal's decision was also lauded by Barbara Hall, chief commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission.

"This precedent-setting decision recognizes that transsexual individuals are full and equal members of society who must be accorded respect, dignity and freedom from discrimination," Hall said.

Gay film festival marks its 30th year with 266 movies in a range of styles

John McMurtrie, Chronicle Staff Writer

The San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival turns 30 this year, and in the parlance of the day, it still looks fabulous.

Touted as the longest-running and largest event of its kind in the world, the festival for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender cinema is screening a wide selection of films -- 266 in all -- from June 15-25. The festival program was announced Tuesday.

There are feature films that deal with health issues, documentaries about same-sex marriage and a lot of lighthearted offerings ("Dyke Delights," anyone?).

Among the highlights of Frameline30, as the 11-day event is also called, will be a tribute to French director François Ozon, who will be honored with the 2006 Frameline Award at a June 20 screening of his latest film, "Time to Leave." (Frameline is the film funding and distribution organization that oversees the festival.)

Ozon has directed several accomplished and varied films that belie his relative youth -- he's 38. His writing and directing credits include the campy whodunit "8 Women," the seductive thriller "Swimming Pool" and the dark drama "Under the Sand." Five of his films will be shown during the festival.

"Time to Leave," a sentimental drama, is about a 30-year-old (Melvil Poupaud) who learns that he has a terminal disease (not AIDS, as he suspects), and proceeds to dramatically alter his life. The great actress Jeanne Moreau plays his grandmother.

The festival's opening-night movie is "Puccini for Beginners," a romantic comedy directed by Maria Maggenti. (Maggenti's 1995 film "The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love" opened Frameline19.) A gala will follow at the San Francisco Design Center Galleria.

Closing out the festival will be "Queens," a Spanish romp directed by Manuel Gómez Pereira, about a mass wedding of same-sex couples. The closing-night party also will be held at the Galleria.

Thirty-two countries will be represented at the festival, with titles coming from as far away as Iceland, India and Nigeria. The Bay Area will have a strong presence as well: 47 local filmmakers are in the lineup.

Eleven of the festival's films will be world premieres.

Two gay and lesbian soldiers discharged a day
25-May-2006

PinkNews.co.uk writer

The American military discharges two lesbian, gay and bisexual recruit’s a day, according to a report.

New data obtained by Servicemembers Legal Defence Network (SLDN) indicates the armed forces continued to discharge two lesbian, gay and bisexual military personnel per day in 2005.

The rate of discharge has remained relatively consistent each year since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and represents a 40% decrease compared with years prior to the attacks.

A total of 742 military personnel were discharged under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” ban on openly gay service members, up from 668 discharges among the services in 2004.

“The time has come for the Pentagon to call on Congress to repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’” said SLDN executive director C Dixon Osburn.

“The law deprives our nation of thousands of skilled men and women who could be instrumental in fighting the war on terror. Our national security suffers because of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.’”

The Army discharged 386 soldiers in 2005, up from 325 the year before. The Air Force dismissed 88 airmen, down slightly from 92 in 2004; the Navy discharged 177 members, the same as the prior year; 75 Marines were discharged, up from 59 the year before; and the Coast Guard discharged 16 men and women, compared to 15 in 2004, the research suggests.

According to an analysis of 2000 census data by statistician Gary Gates, there are currently 65,000 gays serving in the armed forces. “Many gay and lesbian service members are out to colleagues, yet ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ still threatens to cut their careers short if they get caught in the crosshairs of this counterproductive law,” Mr Osburn added. According to Mr Gates, an additional 41,000 lesbian and gay Americans may enlist for military service if the ban were repealed.

The military’s need for qualified and experienced personnel also continues to grow. The San Antonio Express-News recently reported that the armed forces are facing a “major” officer shortage, including falling short by 2,500 captains and majors in the Army this year, with that number increasing to 3,300 in 2007.

In an attempt to attract new recruits and fill the gap, Pentagon leaders have recently relaxed enlistment standards regarding age, physical fitness, education and criminal records. The discharge of lesbian and gay Americans, however, continues.

A bi-partisan coalition in Congress now supports legislation to repeal the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law. The Military Readiness Enhancement Act (H.R. 1059), introduced in March 2005 by Congressman Marty Meehan (D-MA) now has 116 supporters, including five Republican lawmakers. Meehan’s legislation would repeal the military’s ban and allow lesbian, gay and bisexual personnel to serve openly in the armed forces.

Lieutenant General Claudia Kennedy, the first woman to achieve the three-star rank of Lieutenant General in the United States Army, also called earlier this month for Congress to repeal the military ban. “The Army teaches its soldiers, officers, NCOs and other enlisted personnel to live by seven values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honour, integrity, and courage.”

Ms Kennedy said in an interview with reporter Peter Cassels. “Tell me: which is only found in the heterosexual population?”

GAY LIBERATION:

just a kiss away

Jack Manno

Driving back from Denver last month -- we had gone there to talk to a class about Gay Liberation -- the three of us suddenly realized that the experience we had just been through had been one of the most liberating of our lives. By talking to a predominantly straight* class we had not only cleared up a few myths about gay men and women, we had also drawn closer to each other in a sense of gay community -- one of the main goals of Gay Liberation. Essentially gay community means that gay men and women unite as brothers and sisters to give each other "shelter" in a society which regards them as pathetically sick neurotics or as unapprehended felons. Gay lib organizations help to eradicate the painful and anxiety-producing split in a gay individual's life, providing an alternative to the straight-oriented community which finds our life-style repulsive. For example, Gay Lib encourages us to re-evaluate our friendships ("Will they still be my friends when they find out about me? "); examine the oppressive gender roles which our culture instills in us (Men don't cry or kiss each other/Women are never aggressive"), and helps to develop a sense of pride in our gayness.

Much has been said and written about both gay power and gay pride and it seems appropriate here to discuss the growth of gay pride and its result for the gay community -- gay power. Gay pride is the result of a long process which begins with "coming out." Often the most agonizing stage of all, coming out involves the admission to oneself that he or she is a homosexual. Fear of ostracism from one's peer group, alienation from straight society, and antiquated religious beliefs often prove to be tremendous hurdles for gay men and women. Before Gay Lib, homosexuals would run to the twentieth-century witch doctor -- the psychiatrist. Treatment would aim at the "reform" of the homosexual, with a view' to making him a fit member of straight society. Some shrinks resorted to the quaint technique of electro-shock therapy on gays to induce socially acceptable sexual responses in them. Now, however, Gay Lib groups everywhere are provid-ing positive reinforcement to the new gay sister or brother by emphasizing the individual worth of the homosexual and his potential as a valuable member of the community. Boulder G.L.F. provides a counselling and counselling referral service for anyone who wants it. Since there is now a homosexual community for gays to identify with, there is no longer any need for the feeling of alienation and loneliness which was previously the burden of all gay women and men.

Having "come out" and abandoned the absurd gender roles of straight society, gay people begin to not only take pride in their love but also begin to feel anger at the system which oppresses them in several ways. The obvious forms of oppression are the discriminatory statutes which not only deny our civil rights in the fields of housing and employment but also prohibit sexual contact between member of the same sex -- in fact, in some southern states the penalty for such contact is life imprisonment or indeterminate sentences to state mental facilities. The far more insidious methods of oppression are things like the contemptuous attitudes of straights, often -expressed in such heartless ways as unprovoked harassment, brutal assaults on gay women and men and the jokes and limp wrist caricatures aimed at gay men. Recently the Boulder chapter of Phi Delta Theta fraternity demanded as a pledge assignment from an anxious young man to obtain the signatures of the executive committee members of G.L.F. on his jock strap. Surprisingly enough the pledge had the audacity and ignorance to attempt to fulfill the assignment. Gays are just beginning to realize the pervasiveness of myths and stereotypes which represent some basic fears and anxieties on the part of the straight community. One of the goals of the Gay Lib movement is the eradication of the following myths:

1) "Homosexuals are sick or unnatural." It might be said, from a reproductive point of view, all sexual acts (including fellatio, masturbation, and anal intercourse) except vaginal penetration by the male are "unnatural." It should be fairly obvious that many straights engage in these activities -- and with good reason. Human beings seem to be the only creatures who use sex for non-reproductive purposes, such as mutual pleasure and sharing of tenderness. Gay men and women use sex for the same reasons and therefore can be considered no sicker than their straight counterparts. Evelyn Hooker administered a battery of psychological tests to both homosexual and heterosexual men. She discovered that her colleagues were unable to identity any of the subjects as either gay or straight, based on the test responses.

2) "Homosexuals molest small children or commit violent sex crimes and are therefore unfit to be teachers or counselors." This is perhaps the most vicious and unwarranted attack on gays, as well as the more tiresome myth of all. By far the overwhelming majority of violent sex crimes are committed by straight men on women and young girls. In fact, a group studying violent sex crimes found it unnecessary to even create a category for homosexuals; that is, the incidence of violent sex crimes committed by gays is statistically insignificant. It has been found that even violent sexual assaults in prisons are perpetrated by sexually frustrated straight men who simply substitute younger and weaker convicts for the women whom they had brutalized when they were outside of prison. Further, no one has yet adequately explained why gay teachers should be seen as posing more of a sexual threat to their students than straight teachers do. Contrary to popular belief, most gay men do not lust after young boys, and those that do are far outnumbered by the straight men who molest young girls with disturbing regularity.

3) "Gay men hate women and gay women hate men." People do not become gay because of negative feelings toward the opposite sex, but rather because of positive feelings toward members of the same sex. Being gay provides a precious opportunity for men and women to abandon the sexual roles dictated by society and to approach each other as sisters and brothers. Thus, all oppression of women (whether gay or straight) is an offense against the gay community be-cause it issues from the same sexist source which would destroy gays or render them helpless to determine their own sexual and emotional destiny. It is, therefore, not surprising to find that the greatest allies that the Gay Lib groups have are women's groups, since many women -- heterosexual and homosexual alike, are discovering that gay men do not see them as sexual objects but rather as equals united in the struggle to smash sexism.

Gay Pride then is simply the joy we feel in the knowledge that our form of sexuality is an expression of our tenderness for each other. Gay Power is our determination to convert our pride in each other into social and political action aimed at our liberation.

The Radicalesbians, a group of gay activists women, have made an important distinction between sexuality and sensuality which may help to explain the opportunity which gay men and women have to overthrow the traditional gender roles assigned by society to men and women. Sexuality is orgasm-oriented and is typical in the frightening need of straight men to prove their masculinity by "performing" in a sexual situation. It becomes a matter of great shame and anxiety when a straight man cannot achieve an erection or an orgasm. Thus, instead of passing a few hours pleasantly in a sexual encounter, straight men must become part of a tense encounter which has "shameful" potential if he or his partner does not achieve orgasm. The obsession of men with the female orgasm is typical of this pattern -- while such concern may be motivated by a sincere interest in his partner's pleasure, more often than not it is merely a sexual trophy. The sick fascination of straight men with gay women is another aspect of the sexist mentality. Straight men refuse to believe that gay women are happy with each other, and often think that a good sexual experience with a man will "cure" everything. The obvious implication here is that women are made to be sexual tools of men and gay women show that attitude for the consummate nonsense that it really is.

Sensuality on the other hand, is not primarily oriented towards orgasm but rather to the sharing of pleasure in each other's bodies. Two gay women or two gay men have the option to ignore the master/slave behavior pattern which is imposed on straights by cultural conditioning. Essentially what I am saying is that oppressive gender roles make it difficult for a man and a woman to approach each other as sexual equals committed to mutual warmth and tenderness, without the false masculinitv concept suffering as a result of such affection and regard.

Gay Liberation helps gay women and men to provide themselves with new models to replace the sexual game structures which they have rejected. Awareness of each other's emotional and sexual needs is the foundation for the sense of gay community from which we draw the strength to fight for the liberation of all gays.
